District Report Cards

We are pleased to share our annual district and school-based report cards published by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education as required by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). The report cards contain information about school and district accountability, student achievement on the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS), and other important measures of school performance.

Note: The COVID-19 pandemic had a profound impact on the 2020-21 school year. Data included in report cards may have been affected by the pandemic. Please keep this in mind when reviewing report cards, and take particular care when comparing data over multiple school years.
INFORMATION ABOUT THE REPORT CARDS

The first page of the report card contains important accountability information:

  • Accountability and Assistance Levels: Schools and districts are placed into one of five accountability and assistance levels (1-5), with the highest rating being Level 1 and lowest rating being Level 5.

  • Shows how students in the district/school are performing on the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) tests. Achievement and progress information is reported for our school and is also compared to the performance of our district and the state.

 

The second page of the report card provides information about the students and teachers in our school as compared to the district and the state. Also included are other important measures of school performance, such as attendance, suspension rates, and high school performance.

 

To improve student performance in our school, we always encourage you to become involved in helping us improve our school. Some ways you can become involved are:

  • Encouraging your child’s learning at home

  • Attending parent-teacher meetings and other special meetings

  • Serving as a volunteer in our school or district

  • Encouraging other parents to become involved

TITLE 1 DISCLOSURE

Our district has three Title 1 schools, Johnson Elementary, Brown Elementary, and Lilja Elementary.

 

If your child attends a school that receives federal Title 1 funding, then you also have the right to request the following information about the qualifications of your child’s classroom teachers:

  • Whether your child’s teacher is licensed in the grade levels and subject areas they teach

  • Whether your child’s teacher is teaching under an emergency license or waiver

  • The college degree and major of your child’s teacher

  • Whether your child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications

It is important to note that all Johnson, Brown, and Lilja teachers are highly qualified, as expected by law. Additionally, all data linked above is managed by the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and is updated by this agency. If information is out of date, we encourage you to contact them directly.
