Research shows that LGBTQ+ youth across Massachusetts are at increased risk for bullying, isolation, substance abuse, depression/anxiety, suicide attempts, violent behavior and even lower academic achievement. NPS school nurses were awarded an Innovative Care Coordination grant by the Department of Public Health to address these issues and help improve the school connectedness and safety of Natick's LGBTQ+ students.

One of the results of that grant work was publishing the Gender & Sexuality Resource website. This online Resource is designed to connect Natick's LGBTQ+ students, their families, allies, and educators with reliable and meaningful LGBTQ+ resources, both locally and nationally. The website brings together a multitude of resources, including crisis help lines, parent support sites, social clubs & opportunities, mental health/medical providers, inclusive classroom curriculum ideas and much more.

Natick Public Schools' new social justice initiative highlights our Gender & Sexuality Resource on their Social Justice page under the LGBTQ+ tab. By providing this important Resource to our LGBTQ+ community, Natick is emphasizing the importance of diversity and inclusion and hopes to provide knowledge, support and connection for ALL of our students. We invite you to visit the site at: bit.ly/naticklgbtq.
