Welcome to the Natick Public School System 2011 - 2012 School Year
Superintendent's Mid-Year Message
Dear Natick Community,
Upon
reflection of the Natick Public Schools first 100 days, I am very pleased to
boast about our accomplishments. The
following achievements are a testament to our outstanding educators, dedicated
community participants, committed administrators and talented students. Please join me in celebrating the midpoint of
an amazing year.
- The
Bennett-Hemenway and Memorial Elementary Schools were identified as
“Commendation Schools” for significant growth in MCAS scores.
- In
English Language Arts, 44% of the third-graders at Brown scored in the advanced
category in MCAS, moving them to number one in the state. On the math portion, 56% scored in the
advanced category, putting them in second place.
- Natick
High School placed 32nd in Boston Magazine’s rankings of Best Public
High Schools for 2011.
- According
to SchoolDigger.com, an organization that compares schools from around the
state based on test scores, Natick Public Schools ranked 48th out of 332 school
districts.
- Natick
School District is one of fewer than 400 districts in the nation being honored
by the College Board’s AP District Honor Roll for Significant Gains in Advanced
Placement Access and Student Performance.
-
As a result of Erica Dinerman’s, Prevention Specialist,
determination and community support, Natick was awarded a five-year, federal
Drug Free Communities grant. She was instrumental in bringing together a group
of community partners to create a youth substance abuse coalition, “Natick Together
for Youth”, which was a key factor in qualifying Natick for this grant.
